Plug-in with Ben

Updated: Aug 26, 2024

Ben lives in San Jose Costa Rica. As a student with a part time job, he needed a reliable form of transportation that fit both his needs and his adventurous lifestyle. He also needed something didn't require a full license, so a pedal assisted e-bike was on his shortlist. But then, he discovered the Onyx RCR.

"It's like a Tesla on two wheels!"

Why did you choose the ONYX RCR?

I had just turned 18 and didn't have my drivers license yet, and needed a reliable mode of transportation. I really wanted an e-bike that had the look and power of a motorcycle, and began to research online. I read great things about the Onyx RCR, but currently there arenā€™t a lot of places to buy e-bikes in Costa Rica. So I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they were being sold at eguana in Liberia. This is one of the fastest e-bikes on the market, very high capacity, high battery, with all the diamonds and sparkles.

Have you ever gone anywhere that you wouldn't have gone because of your ONYX RCR?

As a food delivery driver, I sometimes have to get to hard-to-reach areas and the ONYX RCR is able to do so. I like that I am able to drive 50 kilometers to visit my family in the mountains, with a 2-kilometer climb. The steep hills slow regular cars down to 30-40 km/h, but my bike handles it effortlessly in sports or regular mode, as if on flat ground.

Now that you have the ONYX RCR, what would you say to people who are skeptical about electric bikes?

If you're skeptical about e-bikes, I get itā€”I used to be all about the roar of an engine myself. But after trying a few different e-bikes, this one is the best by far. The speed and torque are insane, like a Tesla on two wheels. Honestly, it's almost too goodā€”so if youā€™re on the fence, you might just be underestimating how much fun and power an e-bike can pack. Do yourself a favour, visit eguana and try one!
